Abi LGA

Abi LG Chair

Edith Newman Amadi (Mrs) was born 26th October, 1982. She is believed to be the youngest ever to emerge as Peoples Democratic Party Chairman from the inception of this democratic era or at least from 1999. She attended Christ The King Nursery And Primary School in Uyo 1991 – 1995, Agbo Comprehensive Secondary School, Egborinyi, Abi LGA of Cross River State from 1996 – 2002. She then proceeded to the University of Calabar, Cross River State in 2004 and graduated in 2007. She did her compulsory National Youth Service (NYSC) program in 2010 in Rivers State. Her rise to power was very controversial with many people calling her a stooge of the political godfathers of the local government and accusing her of inexperience.

Akamkpa

Barr. Itotup Joseph Asuquo was born on February 14, 1962. He attended St. Mary’s Primary School, Akung, from 1967 – 1969; St. Theresa’s School, Akamkpa, 1970 – 1972; Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar, 1974 – 1979. He then proceeded to the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Uyo, as it was then called and obtained a National Certificate of Education (N. C. E.). He is a holder of an LLB and has been a Lawyer since 2001. Barr. Itotup was the Legal Adviser to Akamkpa Local Government Council, a position he held until he resigned to run for the Chairmanship position.

Dr. Patrick Ene-Okon is an administrator, a journalist, a public relations consultant, a teacher, philanthropist and politician.

Born on Thursday, 7th April, 1960, Patrick attended St. Joseph’s Primary School, Ikot Ene, Akpabuyo LGA between 1966 and 1971. He thereafter attended the Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar; Methodist Boys’ High School, Oron; The Polytechnic, Calabar; University of Calabar; University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus; University of Uyo, Uyo; and the Redeemed Christian Bible College, Lagos.

He has in his kitty the following academic qualifications: National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communications, Higher National Diploma (HND) in Print Journalism (passed at distinction level), Diploma in Public Administration, Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing), Diploma in Theology, Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Public Relations, Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Theology (Pastoral Ministry), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mass Communication.

Politically, Patrick has served as Hon. Councilor/Supervisory Councilor for Works, Housing and Transport in Odukpani Local Government (1988-1989); Hon. Member, CRS House of Assembly, where he chaired the Information and Judiciary Committees respectively (1992-1993); Special Assistant to the Hon. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (1993 – 1994); Special Assistant to the Hon. Minister of Finance (1994 – 1995); Hon. Member, House of Representatives, Abuja (1999 – 2003); and lately as Director (Operations), Cross River State Signage and Advertisement Agency (CRISSAA), Calabar (2011 – 2013). He had also served on several committees, boards and task forces set up by federal, state and local governments. He is also a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Mr. Ana Enebiene Idem was born in 1967. He attended the Presbyterian Primary School, Ikot-Ansa, 1973 – 1978; People’s Comprehensive High School, Lessel, Benue State 1978 – 1980 and Emilis Secondary Commercial School, 1981 – 1984. Between 1986 and 1991, he went to the then University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Uyo, and obtained a Bachelors degree in Communications Arts. He had his Post-graduate studies in Lagos State University (LASU) from 1997 – 98, and bagged MPA in Human Resource and Personnel Management. Mr. Ansa is versatile and experienced career person who rose to the rank of Manager in Fidelity Bank Plc, a position he resigned to become Chairman.

Bakassi

Mrs. (Elder) Edison Usang-Iso attended Bishop King Memorial Primary School, Calabar, from 1974 – 1979; Community Secondary School, Ndukpoisa, Akwa-Ibom State, 1980 – 1984; Federal College of Education (F. C. E.), Obudu, Cross River State 1990 – 1992. She obtained her Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) from the University of Calabar in 1997, a Masters degree in Education (M. Ed) in 2002. She has been Special Assistant to the Governor.

Bekwarra

Mr. Ushie Augustine Onyi was born 20th August, 1974. He attended St. Edwards Primary School, Nyanya-Ulim, 1977 – 1982; St. Thomas Teachers’ Training College, Ogoja; Federal College of Education (F. C. E.), Obudu, 1996 – 2000; University of Port-Harcourt, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) from 2002 – 2005. Mr. Ushie is a humble man, who started his working career as a teacher before delving into politics in 2007, where he was elected as Councillor of his ward and later Leader of Bekwarra Legislative Council. He was the Community Relations Officer for Bekwarra, a position he held until he was elected Chairman of Council.

Boki

Hon. Abubakar Ewa born October 1st, 1963. Hon Abu as he’s popularly called is a generally percieved as a grounded grassroots’ politician, open-minded and receptive. He attended St. Stephen’s Primary School, 1967 – 1971, and Secondary Commercial School, Bateriko, Boki Local Government Area, from 1975 – 1980. He also attended Cross River State College of Education (C. O. E.), Akamkpa, after which he proceeded to attend the University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State. He has held series of political appointments including Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State.

Calabar Municipality

Mr. Etim Donatus Henry was born 20th April, 1969. He attended Primary School Ikot-Ansa. Community Technical College, Calabar, and later went to attend School of Basic Studies, Akamkpa, from 1985 – 1986. He studied in the University of Calabar, first from 1990 – 1995 and 2004 – 2005 for his Bachelor’s Degree and Post-graduate Diploma in Public Administration. He worked as Assistant Manager with North-West Petroleum before resigning to become Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council. He is thought to be resourceful and dependable.

Calabar South

Mrs Marjorie Eyo Asuquo was born on October 31st, 1965. She started her educational pursuit at Convent School, Efut-Abua, 1969 – 1974 and Mary Hanny Secondary School, Oron, Akwa-Ibom State, 1975 – 1980. From 1982 – 1986, she studied at the University of Calabar and obtained a B.Sc in Economics. She then proceeded to Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT), between 1998 – 2001 for a Master’s in Business Administration and Marketing. Mrs Asuquo is seen as a visionary and pragmatic politician and there are hopes that she will turn around the fortunes of her people in the coming years.

Etung

Dr. Inok Kuti Ebak started his educational journey in his Itaka village at St. Finian’s Primary School, after which he proceeded to Government Secondary School (popularly known as GOVISCO), Ikom. After his High School studies in GOVISCO Ikom, he proceeded to Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital to study and bag B.A (Hons) in Communication Arts at the University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State in 1998. He studied for a Masters of Arts in Communication & Media Arts in the University of Calabar, which he successfully completed in 2005. He bagged a PhD in Linguistics & Communication Arts from the University of Calabar, Cross River State in 2013. His last appointment was as Community Liaisons Officer (CLO) for Etung Local Government, a position he held until he threw in the towel to run as Chairman of Council.

Ikom

Hon. Ojong Ayiba Ayiba attended St. Theresa’s Primary School, Adijinkpo, from 1976 – 1982. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate at Primary School Okunde, after which he proceeded to attend Community Secondary School, Akparabong, Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State. He thereafter went to the Cross River State College of Education (C. O. E.) from 1991 – 1994. He then went further to study at the foremost University of Nigeria, Nsuka, from 1999 – 2003, from where he is currently undertaking his M.A program. Mr. Ojong Ayiba was also NACRISS President from 2001 – 2003, Counsellor Ikom Urban Ward 2 in Ikom Local Government Legislature from 2004 – 2007, where he also had a stint as Leader. His position in the State Exco as Ex-officio was from 2010 – 2013, after which he picked the party’s ticket as Chairmanship flag bearer for the council polls.

Obanliku

Mr. Ashua Jeremiah Ugare was born 23rd August, 1971. He attended Roman Catholic Missionary Primary School, Bebi, Obanliku. Community Secondary Commercial School, Calabar, 1992 – 1993. He then went further to attend The Polytechnic, Calabar, where he obtained National Diploma (ND) in Financial Studies, 1993 – 1995, and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting. Until his resignation, he was the Principal Executive Officer Accounts, Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar. As Chairman-elect, he desires to transform the lives of the rural people of Obanliku through his wide array of policies.

Kyrian Ibi Mfam, Ph.D was born on the 26th of May, 1974. He began his tetiary education from the Polytechnic, Calabar where he obtained NCE in Business education (Accounting major), through University of Calabar where he was awarded B.Sc.Ed in Business education (Accounting major) to University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he bagged a M.Ed and Ph.D degrees in Business education (Accounting major).

Dr. Kyrian Mfam has gained practical work experience in a number of reputable and challenging organizations including the Nigeria Prisons Service (Assistant Inspector of Prisons) and National Assembly Service Commission (Legislative Aide). Until his desire to serve the people of Obubra, he was an Assistant Manager in the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Abuja.

Dr. Mfam has attended several capacity building and development programs nation-wide to enhance his productivity and efficiency in administration.

Obudu

Mr Emmanuel A.Ugbe was born 4th July, 1963. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in Central School, Ohong in 1974, and General Certificate of Education (GCE) at St. Patrick’s College, Calabar in 1982, and also went to School of Basic Studies Akamkpa in 1984. He also has an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from the Polytechnic Calabar between 1985 – 1988, before he proceeded to the University of Calabar where he studied Environmental Protection Management, 1988 – 2004, and had a six months course at the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Ogba, Lagos. He had a stint as a reporter with the Nigerian Chronicles in 1987, after which he left to become Public Relations Officer at the Cross River State Sports Council in 1988. From 1992 – 1993, he was Protocol Officer to Governor of Cross River State, Treasurer, Cross River State Sports Writers Association, 1986 – 1990, and headed the information Department of the Cross River State Sports Council between 1994 – 2010. He has attended seminars and workshops, one of which is on Ethics on Protocol by the Cross River State Government in 2010. He served as member Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Nigeria ’99, Calabar Subseat, 1998 – 1999.

Odukpani

Hon Bassey Asuquo Eyo went to the Polytechnic Calabar, where he bagged a Higher National Diploma in Statistics, and has been a keen follower of the politics of the day and understands the rudiment of the ‘game’. He had served as Supervisor and Secretary in the same Council. Not much is available about his educational background but he is said to be a strong PDP supporter who has over the years worked for the fortunes of the party in Odukpani and was been rewarded by the party stalwarts in the local government for his loyalty.

Ogoja

Ms. Ayim, Rita Agbo was born on the 18th of July, 1961. She attended Holy Child Convent Primary School (1971) and Holy Child Secondary School (1977), Ogoja. After which she proceeded to study English Education at the University of Calabar, 1981 – 1985, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is unarguably an astute administrator with vast experience in the banking sector where she worked for a good number of years and also an excellent public administrator as her role at RUDA suggest. Before her position as Director of Finance in Rural Development Agency which spanned from 2008 – 2013, she had worked at Co-operative Development Bank PLC (now FCMB) from 1990 – 1992. She is also a grassroots mobilizer as examplified in her previous roles as coordinator Women For Change And Development Initiative in the Northern Senatorial zone, Ogoja Local Governemnt, Coordinator Partnership For Women Empowerment Realization (POWER), amongst others.

Yala

Yala LGA chair

Mr. Usibe Micheal Ede was born 4th January, 1968. He attended St. Charles Primary School, Obudu, 1976 – 1981; Christ The King’s College, Adikpo, 1981 – 1988. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Calabar, and a Master’s in Business Administration. Until his election as Chairman, he was a Director in the Local Government Service Commission.

Yakurr

Obol Ikpi Ikpi Akpama was born on the 27th May, 1964. He started school at the Presbytarian Primary School, Ikom, 1969 – 1974. And then proceeded to St. Brendan’s Secondary School Iyamoyong, 1976 – 1981, and the University of Calabar. He then later in 1990 bagged a B.A degree in History. He has had several awards for outstanding service during his career as a civil servant, and as a man who’s vested with the customs and traditions of his people, he has also been at one time or another recognized by the Obol Otuma II and paramount ruler of Yakurr Local Government. He has attended several seminars and workshops in the course of his career. He started his career as a master grade II teacher, from there he moved to the Local Government Service Commission as Personnel officer II in 1992. Thereafter, he proceeded to the Local Government proper where he was a long-standing staff for about 15years, and rose to become Deputy Director Administration, before he eventually became Vice Chairman in the same council in 2010, and subsequently elected Chairman. He also during those periods have been appointed into several boards too numerous to mention. He loves playing draft, scrabble, and reading. He is married to Mrs Ekaete A. Akpama.
