A total of eleven policemen attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS in Calabar, are currently under detention at Zone 6 on the orders of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 6 in Calabar over the extra judicial murder of five persons on April 17, 2014.

CrossRiverWatch had exclusively reported how Police men identified as Edidiong, Inspector Gershom Isotu, Sgt. Tony Idoko, Cpl. Ewa and others, removed five detainees including one Derek Moses and a taxi driver, from their cell on April 17, 2014 and went on to gruesomely murder them in an unknown location, labeled them armed robbers and gave their bodies to the anatomy department of the University of Calabar.

The AIG Zone 6, Musa Dauda, on finding out, set up an investigative panel which has concluded its work and written a report that indicted the policemen.

The killer cops were initially arrested and later set free after pressure was mounted on the Police by some politicians in the state. But with renewed interest in the matter following a wave of media reports, the police authorities rearrested the killer cops and they are now back in detention awaiting arraignment in court.

CrossRiverWatch checks at zone 6 reveal that a total of eleven policemen have now been arrested and are now cooling their feet in the cell.

Eight of the eleven who are junior officers are already undergoing the orderly room trial by the police authorities and a senior police officer who did not want to be named told CrossRiverWatch that the eight will definitely be sacked from the service.

Our source said, “A great deal of recent developments in this matter must be attributed to the sustained media interest. Eleven servicemen are in detention already with eight undergoing orderly room trial and I can tell you the eight will not survive it. They are on their way out. The other three are officers and their disciplinary procedure is different. Their case has been referred to the police headquarters in Abuja for action.

“The only thing stopping their arraignment is the fact that the courts in Calabar have not resumed. Once they resume, they will all be charged to court for murder. The AIG is very serious about this and wants this kind of rubbish to stop among policemen.”

  • Inuwa, pls can you substantiate how the AG is aiding and abating this case? Are you saying he is supporting extra-judicial killing in Cross River State? Apart from the Police investigation, the AG has recommended that these murderers be prosecuted. Are your expectations different from this?

  • Where is Attah Uchenke the assuming demi god called the commissioner of justice who was aiding & abating on this matter
