The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN President, Comrade Yakubu Shendam has exclusively informed CrossRiverWatch that he had a clash with Senator Florence, Ita Giwa over her attitude towards the Bakassi struggle in the just concluded national conference.
This was made known in a phone conversation with our reporter, he said: “I challenged Ita Giwa at the national conference where I was also a delegate. I said to her, madam let us take up this Bakassi issue here in the conference she dodged it”.
The native of Bashu-Kaku village, Boki Local Government Area, Cross River State alleged that: “Systematically they are the ones benefiting from the loss” referring to Senator Ita Giwa.
Furthermore, Comrade Yakubu disclosed that during the day of the official handing over of the territory, he mobilized a protest against it in Calabar and was dealt with by law enforcement agents.
His word, “When we came to Calabar, we protested on the day of the handover, we came from Abuja on our own with our resources, I was arrested and beaten because of Bakassi, then I was the President National Association of Polytechnic Students’, NAPS”.
