Reports reaching our news room have it that supporters of the two men battling for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ticket for the Cross River State central senatorial district, Hon. John, Owan Eno and Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Senate Leader have just clashed in Calabar.

When CrossRiverWatch visited the scene of the clash at Asari Eso Street, it was gathered that there is an ongoing closed door meeting in the house of the Senate Leader which is just near Jorany Hotel belonging to Hon. Owan Enoh.

Our reporter saw supporters of the two gladiators, (Owan Enoh’s, from his hotel, dressed in his branded T-shirts and Ndoma Egba’s from his house) milling around the neighborhood and staring menacingly at themselves and exchanging accusations.

Trouble started after supporters of the two politicians, who were both sighting themselves from their positions, due to proximity began throwing banters about who will win or not win the Central Senatorial seat.

The fighting was said to have subsided when our reporter arrived the scene but eye witnesses informed us that the altercation broke down and turned to a free for all before the men of the Quick Intervention Squad, QIS arrived to calm the situation.

Three unidentified men were also arrested and taken to the police station by men of the QIS.

CrossRiverWatch observed that the routes leading to the Senate Leader’s residence was blocked by the men of the Quick Intervention Squad, QIS who had locked down the place for over three hours and allowed no one to pass including residents, our reporter was also prevented from passing.

As at the time of filling this report, the place was still locked down. All attempts to speak to both parties involved were not successful.

Cross Riverians should spend their time and strenght working and fighting for tbeir daily bread, rather than involving themselves in such acts. We should be wise to tell the politicians to put their children, wives and relatives on the front line of such fight. Afterall they are the ones that benefits from them. Pls my dear people, i equally believe in change, lets sit back and watch how the table turns. If only it will.

  • Where are we going from here? When our fathers has turned the goal of politics in war zone.I weep for my people.

  • Please is Ndoma the only one in Cross River State… We really need a new face. God bless cross river state.
