The Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu on Tuesday warned against postponing the forthcoming elections, saying even if 100 percent of Nigerians had collected their permanent voters cards, there was no guarantee they will all go out to vote.

Speaking to journalists in Calabar, the monarch said, “Why are people looking for unnecessary excuses to draw the country backward? I tell you the truth most of those who have already collected their PVCs would not vote because of one thing or the other.

“As far as I am concerned, election should go on. Any discussion on postponing the election is irrelevant. It is uncalled for. Nigerians should stop playing to the gallery.

“Let us follow religiously the program of activities which INEC has submitted. Let us all allow the Almighty God to work in people to achieve His divine purposes, and whosoever emerges should be considered as the will of God and should be accepted as such.

“Politicians should not look at the coming elections as a do or die affair. No matter how desperate politicians attempt to impose their will on Nigerians, we should pray that the will of God only should stand.” He said.
