The Cross River State Chairman of Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, Comrade John Ushie has vowed that the state branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE will be sanctioned for pulling out of the suspended NLC industrial action in the State.

The State NLC Chairman made the vow while speaking to CrossRiverWatch on Tuesday in Calabar shortly after the strike was called off. He said that NUT and NULGE leaders are not worthy of being at the position they occupy because ‘they don’t know the ethics of Labor movement and they don’t know their worth.’

His words: “Their action, anybody who looks at it will know that they don’t understand what the Labor union is all about and we can simply say they don’t know the basis and ethics of Labor movement. A situation where you were in a meeting, contributed to the meeting and you agreed on the issues, when we now commenced you surreptitiously ran away and you say you have withdrawn.

“It shows you don’t know your onion, you are not qualified to be a leader of the people and I think the people who put them in office as their leaders, if they truly understand what Labor movement is all about and they know their onion, they are not supposed to allow them to be there.

“On the part of the Nigeria Labor Congress, if they are our affiliate we know what to do and this platform is not one to discuss what to do with them but by a way of emergency meeting. It is our Executive Council meeting where we will take decision on them because what they have done is anti Labor activities, they are going to be sanctioned.” he concluded.

One commentOn NULGE, NUT Will Be Sanctioned For Pulling Out Of Strike – Cross River NLC Chairman

  • Where was NLC when:
    1. NUT/NULGE were owed months of salaries?
    2. When NLC went ahead n made illegal deduction through office of accountal general for LG?
    3. When NULGE/NLC staff were promoted far back as 2008 without implementation?
    4. NLC is a toothless dog that want 2ride on NUT/NULGE, let them go ahead n sanction us we r ready, they know that it is us that makes the strike has an impact hence they could not continue.
Ushie n his NLC went on strike because the state government refused 2release deductions made on staff salaries 2them.
Since the inception of NLC, let Ushie show me a single project done by them, let him call NUT chairman 2a debate n see who will win, cant he see NUT secretariat n how Comrade Elder Eyo Nsa-Eyo Itam runs NUT?
    NUT/NULGE is waiting 4ur sanctions.
