The Obudu Mountain resort may soon receive a fresh breathe following a motion from legislature that compels the executive branch to urgently reposition the resort for the state to reap maximum benefits.

“The motion is predicated on the hard realities before us. It is only right that we tell the government of the need to institutionalise structures that will bolster our economy, which is the Ranch Resort” said the leader of the house, Moses Ucheche while moving the motion.

Ucheche added that so much has been expended on the Ranch not just to make the place a holiday haven but a tool for revenue generation for the state and it will not amount to financial prudence to let it go to waste especially considering the huge potential the place holds.

In a similar vein, the member representing Ikom 1 constituency, Fred Osim said that the problem with the place has been that of maintenance and that if the State Government can do the needful in renovating the place up to the standards it was, it could be a revenue earner for the state.

Several other members who spoke in support of the motion said the resort should not be allowed “to die” and called for the provision of the required infrastructure for access to the resort as well as an aggressive marketing strategy to sell the resort.

The motion was seconded by the member representing Akamkpa 2, Charles Okon.
