Suspended Dean of Department Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Osim Ndifon has dragged the University to the National Industrial Court in Calabar to challenge his suspension and possible sack.
Professor Ndifon was suspended last year by the University authority after allegations that he raped a 20 year old, 200 level law student in his office.
But in suit No. NICN/CA/01/2016, Professor Cyril Osim Ndifon, is asking the court to determine whether it was right for the school to suspend him and to upturn the suspension.
The matter was filed since the 12th of January, 2016 and is slated to come up for mention on Tuesday 11th February, 2016.
Sequel to this, legal counsel to the alleged victim, Barrister James Ibor, in a letter dated January 18, 2016 to the Registrar of the institution urged the University authority to “diligently defend this suit in the interest of justice”.
The allegation against the suspended Dean is still under investigation by the police and the Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
