The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 604 new confirmed SARS – CoV-2 infections in the country for July 23, 2020.
Of that figure, Cross River has five new cases which brings the tally to 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far.
But, there seems to be a difference in the active case tally presented by the NCDC and the Cross River state government.
The active case tally by the NCDC stands at 30 while that presented by the Cross River state government stands at 23.

According to the NCDC, Cross River has an active case tally which is more than that of nine other states after one was reported dead and three discharged.
The tweet from the Cross River PHEOC says the same but with a fewer active case tally of 23.

Till date, 38,948 cases have been confirmed; 16,061 discharged and 833 deaths recorded in Nigeria.
In Africa, data from the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the continent has recorded 18,464 new infections on Thursday bringing the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 792,040. 449,537 have so far recovered with 16,756 deaths recorded leaving an active case tally of 325,647.
Globally, as at press time, the John Hopkins University Coronavirus dashboard shows that 15,659,529 cases have been confirmed from which 9,545,462 have recovered and 636,599 deaths recorded.
