#Calabar: Curfew Relaxed, Looters Return Properties

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has relaxed the 24 hours curfew imposed in the State capital from 8am to 4pm.

The relaxation notice contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr. Christian Ita stated that the ease starts from Tuesday, October 27, 2020, with restriction of movement now between 4pm and 8am daily.

The statement reads, “following a review of the security situation in the State, His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade has directed that with effect from Tuesday, October 27, 2020, the curfew imposed in the State will now be between the hours of 4pm and 8am daily. Consequently, restriction of movement is hereby relaxed from 8am to 4pm”.

The Governor had appealed to residents to return looted items or support with intelligence that could lead to full recovery. Mr. Donald Duke, Mrs. Florence Ita-Giwa, Mr. Joseph Edet and a handful are crusading for peace by having meetings with several communities.

Also, some suspected looters haven heeded to the Governor’s appeal, have heaped looted properties at various point majorly by the road sides.

These points confirmed by this reporter includes, Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar Road, Ewa Ekeng, Edibe-Edibe, Egerton, 8 Miles, Ekpo Abasi, Yellow Duke, Marian and many others to mention in Calabar Municipal and Calabar South LGAs respectively.
