Labour Berates Ayade Over Tear-Gassing Of Old Women Owed 6 Months Salaries (VIDEO)

The organized labor in Cross River State has berated Governor Ben Ayade for the harassment of aged women protesting the non payment of their salaries for 6 months.

Hundreds of road sweepers in Calabar attached to the Calabar Urban Development Authority protested along major streets to draw attention to their plight and were tear-gassed by policemen attached to the Sting unit of Operation Akpakwu, a joint task force set up by the State Government.

The action has drawn widespread condemnation with Labour in its strike bulletin 10 calling it “inhumane and dehumanizing.”

Labour further described the action as “conscienceless,” as the aged women “have been waking up before 5:00AM daily to keep our city clean.”

Labour said the right to protest is enshrined in law and will no longer tolerate such actions anymore.
