Nigeria Golden Eaglets Trounce Niger Republic 6-0 In Calabar

Nigeria U17 team, the Golden Eaglets, today trounced visitors Niger 6-0 in a 2013 African Junior Championship return leg at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar. The Eaglets had earlier beaten their Nigerien counterparts in the first leg encounter played in Nyame on September 7, 2012.

A crossriverwatch reporter who was live at the stadium reports that the Eaglets took the lead in the 13th minute through striker Ifeanyi Mathew, before Izu Omego, Musa Mohammed and Success Isaac took the tally to four respectively in the 24th, 29th, and 42nd minute.

Musa Yahaya compounded the woes of the visitors when he increased the goal haul to five in the 87th minute.

The one sided second half came to a closing with promising striker Success Isaac getting a brace in the 90th minute.

The match which was scheduled for 4pm however started late with kick off at 5:20pm. The Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke and the wife Mrs. Obioma Imoke also watched the match from the state box till the final whistle.
