The Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke has read the riot act to his commissioners and special advisers over complacency to duty.
Crossriverwatch gathered that the governor expressed his displeasure with the attitude of his political aides to official public functions in the state at the last state executive council meeting following their late appearance at the Octocber 1 independence anniversary ceremonies. The governor on the occasion warned them seriously urging them to sit up or be sanctioned accordingly.
A top government source told crossriverwatch that “it is almost becoming perpetual for political office official holders in the state to either arrive late or not come at all to public functions including those that are attended by his excellency. That amounts to disrespect. Look at the last independence celebration, his excellency, Senator Imoke got to the venue of the event long before some of the aides started arriving. Is that a responsible attitude to public duty?” the source asked.
Our findings revealed that some of the political aides had taken advantage of the independence holidays to rush to their country homes in their local governments hoping to arrive early on Monday for the celebrations. Most of them were however unable to meet make it as scheduled and either arrived late or could not arrive until after the conclusion of the events marking the commemoration of the independence anniversary by the state government.
