A former member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Omang is dead.
The former lawmaker who is also an elder statesman in Bekwara politics died this morning a Calabar hospital after a brief illness.
While confirming the death of the septuagenarian, former Chairman of Bekwara Local Government and now Commissioner for Works, Mr. Legor Idagbo told crossriverwatch that, “He called me three days ago to complain that he needed to go for surgery. I thought he was actually going over sea for the surgery I did not even know it was in Calabar. I understand he had stones in his intestines and needed a surgery to remove them. But this morning I just got a call that he is dead”.
It is very very painful. We are quite close and he was a very wonderful father figure for all of us in Bekwara and a respected elder statesman. We will miss him greatly”.
Hon. Timothy Omang was a member of the defunct National Party of Nigeria, NPN and represented the Yala/Ogoja state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly in 1979 when Clement Isong was governor of the state.
