The interim Head of the State Fire Service, Mr. Andrew Modi disclosed this while reacting to the recent fire incident that led to the destruction of properties at Bogobiri Community in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
He said fire as natural disaster can be curtailed if necessary preventive measures are adhered to.
The state fire service boss frowned at the attitude of some residents who always choose to take the laws into their hands by putting off fire by themselves without any requisite experience and equipment.
He said it is more dangerous to do what the citizens feel it’s right in a wrong way.
The state fire Boss declared that fire fighting remains a service rendered to the public free of charge by the Government and advised the masses to always cooperate with men of the State Fire Service in combating cases of fire outbreak in the State.
