Cross River State Acting Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham yesterday said that his boss, Liyel Imoke, is not in a life threatening condition and may be back to the state by next week end.

This assurance is coming at a time the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, in the state has threatened a court action should the governor not return within the next two weeks.

Governor Imoke has been out of the country for ninety nine days today for a medical trip in Maryland, United States of America.

Speaking while answering questions at the town hall meeting to mark the end of the National Good Governance Tour in the state, the Acting Governor, Efiok Cobham said, “Though the governor is in Maryland for medical reasons, he is not in any life threatening condition. Yes! The governor is in Maryland. Any moment from now he will return. There is no secret about his whereabouts. Last December, I had cause to address the elders forum of this state and it was one of the platforms that I felt was necessary for me to clear all doubts about the whereabouts of the governor. If he does not return this weekend, he will definitely do so next week.”

Cobham also spoke on the question of security of Cross River State water ways. He said “the priority of the Navy and all security agencies concerned is to patrol the state’s water ways constantly to ensure security”.

He added that Cross River State is today ranked as one of the states with the best investment climate in the country and encouraged rural farmers who want to access the State’s N1b loan to farmers to get information about the scheme from the state ministry of agriculture and also be registered with the online portal for farmers for proper identification.
