Mr. Eddy Achi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chapter Chairman in Yala Local Government Area has said the era of politics of factions and fragmentation has come to an end in Yala as he in his capacity as chapter Chairman in the area would not condone the politics of division and bitterness.
He said everyone who is a PDP member should see the other as brother or sister who is a partner in progress to bring development to the area and transform the lives of the people who are the prime focus of any political activity.
Mr. Achi who was speaking during an enlarged meeting of the wards executives of the fourteen political wards and chapter executives of the PDP said in the past Yala was noted for conflict, factionalization and godfathers dictating to the mass of the party members “but with me as the chapter Chairman, I will ensure that what was obtained in the past remains in the past as we are charting a new course in the affairs of the party in our local government area”
Mr Achi who was speaking in Okuku said the priority of any politician should be how to add value to the lives of the people he seeks to lead or is leading not cause confusion in the polity and advised all the PDP stakeholders and leaders to be selfless in the their leadership.
The Chapter Chairman said he would soon begin a ward tour of all the fourteen political wards in the area to “properly educate our people on the way forward and how to conduct themselves in this new dispensation so that we all can benefit from the dividends of democracy”.
He commended the State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke for the purposeful way he is charting the affairs of the state by “ensuring that every part of this state is accessed by constructing road and health infrastructure to care for the health of the people of our state”
Mr. Tom Agi, The Director General of the State Roads Maintenance Agency, who was in the meeting said the PDP was committed to the welfare of the people and called on the Wards and Chapter executive members to cue in tandem with the seven points development agenda of the state government by supporting all its programs and projects.
