Reprieve came the way of the Federal College of Education Obudu today Wednesday when an Obudu High Court presided over by Justice Ashu Ewa vacated the “Motion for Distrain” slammed on the school following its inability to make tax remittances to the Cross River State Government.

Justice Ewa said since the University Matriculation Examination UME, scheduled for the 25th of April is taking place in the school as one of the centers selected by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board JAMB, the school should be reopened for one month to enable the young men and women who have the school as their center to sit for the examination.

His Lordship held that the purpose for collecting taxes would be defeated if the people for which the taxes are collected are not able to write the examination for which they have paid.

He urged the school to enter into settlement with the Cross River Internal Revenue Service and make the payment or part payment before the 25th of May which is the next adjournment for the case.
