Chairman, Board of Trustee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Chief Tony Anenih has described Imoke as Chairman of South-South Governors’ Forum and a very strong member of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The BOT Chairman also said that President Goodluck Jonathan would soon take action to address the pain of the loss 76 oil wells and Bakassi Penisula by Cross River State.
Chief Anenih who was speaking in Calabar on Thursday in continuation of the PDP BoT visit to PDP controlled state said though he would not provide the details of the President’s planned action as discussed with Governor Imoke, he was sure the people of the state would be happy by the time the president rolls out his action on these two contentious issues affecting the state.
“We discussed issues concerning Bakassi, issues concerning oil wells and issues concerning the Governors’ Forum and the Governor is sending his goodwill message to the President on his plans concerning oil wells and Bakassi”.
He said the discussion on Bakassi and oil wells were satisfactory to Governor Imoke and that accounts for his sending a good will message to President Goodluck Jonathan for the action he is planning to take because it will make the people of the state happy.
On the contentious Governors’ Forum and who becomes its next chairman, the PDP BoT chairman said it is too early to talk about the plans the party has with regard the election of a new chairman for the Forum since at the appropriate time the result would be made known.
“Governor Imoke here is the Chairman of the South -South Governors Forum and a strong member of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum : The issue was discussed and when the election is held, the press would be informed of the result but not to tell you now who is to be the chairman,” .
Anenih said that the meeting with the governor also addressed issuers concerning the development of the south -south region and the efforts being made to keep the PDP united.
Speaking earlier, Senator Liyel Imoke, the Cross River State Governor said the state feels honoured by the visit of the BoT because even as the state was considered a single party state, the BoT still took time to visit the state.
