Making the donation in Calabar, the representative of the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Solomon Ita, said the donation of the medical items which include one million syringes was to support the Cross River State Government effort towards restoring hope to the hopeless through some of its programs. He however, appealed that the items be put into effective use and hoped that the commission will continue the effort.
Receiving the donation the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Angela Oyo-Ita said medical items, which include 60,000 De-worming Tablets, 20, 000 Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLINs), and one million disposable syringes donated by NDDC to the Ministry of Health at the premises of the Essential Drugs Program, Calabar will be put into proper use.
The health commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Chris Ita, expressed gratitude to the Commission for the gesture, maintaining that the items will help in alleviating the sufferings of mothers and children, whom he described as the most celebrated in the State.
