Cross River Head Of Service Decries Late Payment of Pensioners

Cross River State Head of Service, Dr. Mary-Theresa Ikwen has frowned at the delay of the monthly payment of pensioners in the State. She said the state government is committed to the well-being of pensioners in the State.

The Head of Service expressed this dissatisfaction when she granted audience to the executive of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Cross River State Council in Calabar.

She however assured them of government’s commitment towards their well-being at all times, part of which she said was the recent donation of a brand new bus to the pensioners in the State

Ikwen said government has commenced work on the harmonization of pensioner’s demands as well as improvement of their welfare.

She said the late payment of pensioners’ monthly income witnessed recently will be looked into, assuring that steps are being taken to address the trend.

She said the union’s request for land to develop its permanent site is a welcomed development, and advised them to route the request through due process.

Earlier in his remark, the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Benjamin Ettah said they came to the Head of Service to register their appreciation for the bus given to the Union as well as to complain about the late payment of their pensions.
