Nigeria’s First Oil and Gas Park to be Established In Cross River

The first Nigeria oil and gas park will soon be launched in Cross River with the expectation of providing local contents employment to the people of Cross River State.

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engineer Ernest Nwapa, disclosed this when he led his team to request for 20 hectares of land from Governor Liyel Imoke to establish the park.

Engineer Nwapa said aside from Cross River, the board’s skill acquisition program will be replicated across the country starting from the oil producing states.

According to the Executive Secretary, the scheme will help small and medium scale enterprises grow and participate in industrial activities especially in the oil and gas sector thereby reduce unemployment and growing the economy.

Responding, Governor Imoke expressed his government readiness to partner the Board to create job opportunities for unemployed youths in the State.

The Governor said the challenges of youths in Niger Delta should be the board’s priority, adding that though Cross River is not an oil producing state any longer, it holds tremendous position of advantage to oil and gas because of its conducive environment as investors’ haven and a peaceful and secure atmosphere for the growth of small and medium scale industries.
