Arrangements have been concluded to establish an Airforce base at the Bebi Airstrip in Obudu as part of the efforts to re-brand the airstrip.

Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Engr. Nnamdi Udoh, stated this in Calabar while briefing Governor Liyel Imoke on the efforts of the agency to make the airstrip operational.

Udoh explained that the airstrip has been given full certification, stressing that arrangements have been concluded to establish an air force base at the Ranch Airstrip because of its strategic location.

He said the airstrip is safe and enjoined the flying public to fly to and from Bebi as it is now one of the safest in the country.

He urged the governor to use his office to ask airliners to fly Obudu route whenever he is traveling to the area to attract attention to the airstrip and make Cross River a destination in the country.

Responding, Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River, said the efforts of the Agency has been impressive because of its present management which ensures that Nigeria’s airspace is as safe as any other one in the world.

Imoke commended NAMA for investing significantly to ensure air safety is guaranteed and acknowledged that the agency is so important in the development of the country.
