Youths in Cross River State have been urged to take advantage of the opportunities created by the numerous investments coming into the state.

The state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Patrick Ugbe gave this admonition while flagging off the city walk for youths as part of activities marking the 2013 International Youth Day in Calabar.

The city walk which is part of the one week program organized by the state government to mark the 2013 edition with the theme “Attitudinal change towards global competitiveness” according to the Commissioner was aimed at elevating Cross River youths to global competitiveness.

Ugbe reminded the youths of the immense opportunities that are being provided by government at all levels in the state which he said can only be well harnessed if they take advantage and change their attitude.

“As you walk round the city, you must key into the theme which is the most important; ‘attitudinal change towards global competitiveness’ because we want the youth of Cross River state to compete globally and you can only do that if you change your attitude.

“A lot is happening in Cross River that you cannot imagine with the meager resources that the state has, Cross River is the only state in Nigeria that is attracting global investments into its economy and youths must key into this theme” Ugbe said.

In his remark, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Gilbert Oko said the youths are prepared to key into the opportunities the government is providing in the State.

“This is the first time we are celebrating the International Youth Week in grand style like this and this show that government and the youths of the state are working together to harness the opportunities that are being provided.” Oko Said
