The newly inaugurated President of National Association of Cross River State Students World Wide (NACRISS WW) Comrade Agwaye Philomina Odah said the election that saw her into office was free and fair.

Addressing newsmen recently in her office, she said: “The aggrieved aspirants are saying that the just concluded election was rigged to favor me because I’m the First Lady’s interest. But I tell you that is all lies because on that day the electoral committee was facing a lot of challenges from the electorates which made them count the results elsewhere then I was pronounced the peoples’ choice.

“I will like to state emphatically that our First Lady in person of Mrs. Obioma Imoke had nothing to do with that election, just because she is gender sensitive and friendly does not mean she will step so low to drag her name to the mud by rigging an election”.

The Obudu daughter maintained that in every election there must be a winner and loser but to accept the fate of losing is what causes such rumors.

“No matter what is been said by those aggrieved as a result of the election outcome, my plan is to carry everyone along but let us not forget that many are called but few are chosen” She affirmed.

Earlier, the Business Education Student of University of Calabar (UNICAL) proposed a three point agenda of peace, co-operation and proper empowerment of Nacrites.

Furthermore, She lauded the Ubi Emmanuel led exco for her giant stride in providing at least a befitting but rented secretariat, 18 seater bus, increasing of subvention from government from N100,000 to N600,000 per month, creation of new chapters, drafting of constitution amongst others but promised that her administration will make sure the union gets a permanent secretariat before leaving office.

The President advised all Cross River Students to exercise their franchise wisely in the forth coming LGA election.

She said: “I beckon on my dear comrades at that level to cast their vote wisely, don’t vote for political party but for the credibility of the individual”.

She also appealed to the Federal Government to sincerely respond reasonably to the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) noting that what ASUU is asking for is one-third of what the Senators collect annually.
