Super Eagles’ Coach, Stephen Keshi, expects all the players he invited for this weekend’s Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier against Malawi to be in camp by midnight Monday.
Keshi, who initially invited 42 players for the game and the subsequent friendly match against Burkina Faso, has whittled down his squad to 23 players because the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said they had no money to cater for the whole lot.
Super Eagles’ Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, said on Sunday that the players and officials would all arrive at their Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel camp today and begin training tomorrow at the U.J Esuene Stdaium in Calabar.
“All the players are aware of the importance of arriving the camp early as agreed by all the parties.
“The home-based players, of course, are expected to be in camp by midday tomorrow, while the Europe-based stars are expected before 12 midnight.
In all, we have made all the necessary arrangement to begin training on Tuesday,” Alaiya said.
The players listed for the game include Vincent Eyeama, Austin Ejide, and Chigozie Agbim made the cut while Elderson Echiejile, Efe Ambrose, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Solomon Kwambe, James Okwuosa .
Others are John Mikel Obi, Fegor Ogude, Sunday Mba, John Ogu, Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Nosa Igiebor, Ahmed Musa, Brown Ideye, Shola Ameobi, Emmanuel Emenike, Obinna Nsofor, and Uche Nwofor.
The Eagles top Group F with nine points while The Flames of Malawi follow behind with seven points. This means just a draw will quench the Flames while the Eagles will hover to the last round of the qualifiers.
