Female Undergraduate Robbers, Accomplice to Appear in Court Soon

The two undergraduate female robbery suspects, Ebere Ugwu, Diezianne Umunna and their male accomplice, Chucks Igwe who on Friday attempted to rob a Calabar businesswoman of the sum of N1.5 Million Naira at gun point are soon to appear in court.

Hogan Bassey, the Police Public Relations Officer for Cross River State, said the matter is under investigation and as soon as the investigations are completed, the two ladies would be taken to court.
“These ladies are professional robbers and as soon as the investigations are over, we will make sure that they are taken to court.”

Mr Hogan Bassey said there have been several reports of people using cars and taxis to dispossess commuters of their cash and the police have put in place mechanisms to track down the criminals. “We are approaching the Christmas season and criminals desperate to make money would do everything to succeed but we have put in place adequate plans to track them down and put pay to their evil plans”.

The police image-maker who is also a lawyer said Mr Kola Sodipo, the Cross River State Police Commissioner has assured that criminals would have a tough time in the state. “Those with criminal intentions have to change now or leave the state because the Commissioner of Police has assured that no criminal, be it armed robber or trickster would have the chance to operate”. Hogan Basey said.

It will be recalled that on Friday, two female undergraduates and one male were arrested in Calabar for attempting to rob a lady who boarded their car with which they posed as a taxi along Murtala Mohammed Highway.
