Maj. Gen. Kenneth Tobiah Minimah, a Cross Rivers was today named the new Chief of Army Staff. This was contained in the Twitter and Facebook posts by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Thursday.

Minimah, an indigene of Cross River State, was born on July 27, 1959 and until his new appointment was the Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Jaji.

Minimah is a member of the Regular Cadet Course 25 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on December 18, 1981. He was previously posted to Lagos as GOC 81 Division in September 2010, and until then he was the Brigade Commander of the 1 Brigade, Sokoto.

An infantry officer, he was promoted to the rank of Major General in January 2011.
