The Head of Cross River State Civil Service, Mrs. Mary Theresa Ikwen, has restated the need for the permanent secretaries to commit themselves to the state revenue target under their ministries in 2014 fiscal year.
Speaking at an emergency meeting held with the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries alongside the old ones at the conference room of her Office, the Head of Service said the level of co-operation and support presently enjoyed should continue.
“Your responsibilities were in line with the spirit of the new civil Service reforms, which amongst other things is to ensure that MDAs under you function efficiently and effectively.
“As part of your duties as Heads of Administration in your various establishments you must co-ordinate administrative matters and the other activities in your respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including the revenue targets.” she said.
The Head of Service, who emphasized the need for team work and synergy amongst them, charged the Permanent Secretaries and Directors to ensure the mentoring of staff under their supervision for the purpose of continuity in the service and implement to the latter the revenue aspect of the Action Plan, namely the Creative Funding Medium Term Expenditure Framework (CFMTEF).
Ikwen further emphasized the need for proper supervision of all the various offices, and advised Permanent Secretaries posted to MDAs with out-stations, to closely monitor and ensure proper co-ordination between the parent ministries and the out-stations.
