Mr. Goddy Jedy Agba, the Cross River State PDP 2015 governorship aspirant, today Saturday visited the three traditional Kings in Calabar, the King of the Efiks, Obong of Calabar, Edidem Abasi Otu the 5th, King of the Efuts, Muri Munene, Effiong Mbuka and the King of the Quas, Ndidem Quas, Thomas Ika Ika Oqua.
At the Palace of the Muri Munene, Mr. Jedy Agba said he was paying a private visit to the traditional rulers because they are the custodians of the heritage of the people and land, “and therefore anyone who has political aspiration should first pay homage to the rulers and receive their blessings”.
He said he is also using the opportunity to felicitate them on the Easter festivity “which marks the death and burial of our Lord Jesus Christ” and promised that at the appropriate time when he comes for campaign he will fully inform the traditional rulers “but this one is a private visit”.
The Muri Munene said he was pleased to have the person of Jedy Agba in his palace. He revealed that he has a long standing relationship with Jedy’s father, Uti Joseph Agba, the Paramount Ruler of Obudu.
The Monarch said, “As a Prince, I am sure that politics should be natural to you. I encourage you to continue your consultation but there should be no violence or animosity.” He assured that at the appropriate time, though he is not a politician, he would lend his voice and was sure that God is going to decide who will be governor of the State and the will of the people will prevail and not that of an individual.
Mr. Agba also took time to visit his campaign office along Marian Road in Calabar where he met with a large crowd of his ecstatic supporters who came from all parts of the state.
Though he did not make any statement, the Director General designate of his campaign organization, Dr. Sandy Onor said: “This is Goddy Agba’s time. And the man has the muscle to contest and win the 2015 governorship election. The man has the heart of a lion that can protect his people.”
He urged everyone to remain calm and assured that everything was being done to ensure Goddy Agba is voted by the people of Cross River State as governor in 2015.
