The Local Organising Committee for the 2014 National Sports Festival has assured Nigerians of a festival worthy of the centenary celebration.
Chairman of the LOC and commissioner for sports, Cross Rivers State, Patrick Ugbe gave this assurance Thursday when he visited the corporate headquarters of DAAR Communications Plc in Abuja for possible live transmission of the games on Africa Independent Television, AIT.
Tagged Centenary Sports Festival, the 2014 National Sports Festival will hold at the first capital of the nation, Calabar, and the Local Organizing Committee is doing everything possible to ensure that the festival attains the best status. The LOC wants Nigerians to watch live proceedings at the games from the comfort of their living rooms.
Patrick Ugbe, Commissioner For Sports, Cross River State, said, “If we understand that this is the centenary games which is the event at the 100th year of the amalgamation of Nigeria where the event itself is even returning to the first capital of the country, we would understand that it’s a very big event we are going to be having and of course there would be several avenues of partnership.”
Ugbe assured of the readiness of the facilities for the competition.
“We are doing very well at the moment, we are at the level at which we should be. We have clear cut timelines and what we are doing at the moment is to ensure that the facilities for the games are ready.”
He however affirmed that adequate security will be provided throughout the competition. Top management staff of the organization including the Executive Director Marketing, Faith Ekem and director Northern Operation, Dupe Oladeinde received him during the visit.
