The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Liyel Imoke has described the empowerment of the senate leader senator Victor Ndoma Egba as meaningful empowerment.
He said, “All our representatives must engage in empowerment, they must ensure that truly our people feel the impact of democracy because our people are getting wiser and wiser, our politics is getting smarter and smarter. Our own senator today is giving account, what we are going to see is meaningful empowerment.
“We have come today for an exercise our people consider imperative of our leaders, today we have come to witness the good things senator Victor Ndoma Egba has brought for his people of the central senatorial district”.
Senator Imoke thanked Senator Victor for what he called ‘purposeful leadership at the national level and here in the state’, “I also want to thank our son for being part of that family that have made Cross River State proud. For us that have come to witness this empowerment we must say thank you to the leader of the senate not just for this empowerment but for everything he has done for the state”.
Urging that “It is imperative that we give our leaders the support they need so that they will not be distracted so that they can deliver on their mandate”.
Earlier, the chairman of the empowerment program, Bar. Chris Agara in his remark welcomed all who came to grace the occasion saying he is pleased to have the large turn up.
He maintained that empowerment is vital but what matters most is the type of empowerment.
The chairman beckoned on the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize whatever they are given.
The constituents of the senate leader were given 50 cars, oil and corn mills, video viewing centre equipment, one million naira each LGA in the district for petty business women, one million per LGA for widows and the money will be managed by CSD Micro Finance Bank.
Also the 120 graduates of the Central Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Development Center, CBN EDC received 200 thousand naira each to start businesses and 40 persons cutting across the LGA’s in the central senatorial district received a lap top each.
Aside the 120 CBN EDC graduates and 40 lap tops beneficiaries, a total of 238 people were empowered.
