The Exquisite Ladies Foundation, a Socio-Philanthropic Organization in Nigeria has honored the wife of Cross River State Governor; Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke with an Award of Excellence in recognition of her continuous meritorious service to humanity.
Eleven other personalities also received awards in various categories in an occasion organized to mark the 20th anniversary of Exquisite Ladies Foundation held at the Kolanut event center Barracks Road Calabar recently.
The Governor’s wife who was also inducted as a life member of the foundation expressed appreciation for the honor done her and pledged that her two Non Governmental Organizations; Partnership Opportunities for Women Empowerment Realization (POWER) and Mother’s Against Child Abandonment (MACA) were prepared to partner any organization with the passion for alleviation of the sufferings of the down-trodden and the less privileged in the society.
She described members of the Exquisite Ladies Foundation as women of proven integrity who are committed to impacting skills acquisition projects.
The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Noble Lady Valerie Ebe commended members of the foundation for being focused in providing quality programs and projects to the less privileged for over the past 20 years.
Lady Valerie Ebe represented by the permanent secretary, office of the Deputy Governor Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Eno Sampson encouraged the women not to relent by keeping the flag flying.
In a lecture titled, “Impact of the Nigerian Woman in the last 100 Years” A professor of Education in the University of Calabar, Prof. Daniel Denga noted that the impact of women cannot be ignored in view of their monumental contributions to the socio-political and economic development of the state and nation and praised the present administration for implementing the 35% affirmative action which has seen many women occupying various political positions in government.
He lauded the Exquisite Ladies for organizing the lecture and commended Mrs. Imoke for her initiatives which he said have empowered women to become self reliant.
Earlier, the president and founder Exquisite Ladies Foundation, Lady Lawrencia Ene Ita explained that the foundation found it pertinent to honor some personalities who have contributed immensely to Exquisite Ladies Foundation’s numerous achievements which includes award of scholarships to over 100 indigent students in the state, regular visits to, motherless babies home and the Good Samaritan home, capacity building on the Girl-Child Education, topical heath issues including legal rights and the proposed skills acquisition centre for the youths.
