Hon. Ukpekpen Begins Enterpreneurship Training For Obudu Constituents

The member of Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA representing Obudu state constituency, Mr. Steven Ukpekpen has flagged off an entrepreneurial empowerment training for his constituents in Obudu.

Hon. Steven told our reporter that the three weeks training that commenced on Monday June 9, 2014 is borne out of his desire to see his people develop and become more self reliant.

Ukpekpen who said it was a way of giving back to his people for their votes casted in his favor informed that CrossRiverWatch that already ten cooperative societies with ten members each have been opened, duly registered with relevant authorities and all have cooperate bank accounts.

Continuing, he said at the end of the training primary farms such as livestock farming, crop farming among others will be established for the beneficiaries with each participant getting one hundred thousand naira adding that they will be linked up to the state Medium Enterprise Development Agency, MEDA and other financial institutions for soft loans to build on what he will give them.

The honorable maintained that he has put in place a team of supervisors coordinated by Mr. G.U. Imayi to ensure that the empowerment funds and materials will be judiciously utilized.

The training is being done by experts from the CBN/EDC in Calabar who have been moved to Obudu for the period of the training.

Speaking to our reporter on behalf of the participants Mr. John Egbenta and Mrs. Philomina Awu both separately expressed happiness with Hon. Ukpekpen for finally making the three weeks training a reality after waiting for a very long time.
