Conference Of Cross River Professionals, have announced that they are set to formally unveil the goals of the group and set modalities for actualizing those set objectives.
Convener of the group, Mr. Effiong Nyong told our reporter that the event which has been slated for Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Transcorp Hotel Calabar will bring together, Cross River State professionals to effect a positive change in the life of the State.
He listed the expected outcomes of the symposium to include:
1. The summit seeks to bring to the fore and drive home the contentious issue of right leadership, proactive leadership, insecurity, sustainable growth through protecting the rights of the child and the youth in general.
2. To educate and inform the masses on the need to safeguard their interest and aspirations.
3. To lay a solid foundation for the entrenchment of democratic tenets in our people.
4. To propose a framework that will set the pathway for economic revival geared towards sustainable development and growth of Cross River State.
5. Finally it is hoped that the symposium will create a re-awakening amongst the masses to discern the dangers of continuous political slavery inherent in consensus candidature and thus ensure that the interest of the state is always put over and above the interest of a few.
Papers to be delivered at the symposium include:
1. The role of the electorate in determining the political climate in a democracy. This will be delivered by Professor Zana Akpagu – Dean Faculty of Arts, Unical
2. Current state of insecurity in the country and the danger it portends for our tourism-based economy and the implications of boundary delineation of Cross River State on the lives of our people to be delivered by (Hon) Chief Patrick Antigha Ene, former Deputy Speaker, CRSHA, former SA to the Gov. on RUWASA.
3. Child abuse, child trafficking, drug abuse and the threat on human resource potentials of Cross River State to be delivered by Dr. Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, Project Alert, Lagos.
