Southern Cross River State Students, World Wide (SOCRISS WW) on Friday, 11th July 2014 inaugurated a new executive charged with the responsibility of the Union in the next one year.
Chairman of the occasion, senator representing Southern Cross River in the Senate, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu encouraged the students to see themselves as unionists and activists, rather than as politicians as they are now “socrites” property.
The Senator who was represented by his liaison officer, Rt. Hon. Pius Edet, said ” leadership and politics are in two phases- micro and macro and your performance in this phase determines if you are to move higher or not”
The President, Effiom, Godwin Michael in his acceptance said “my administration shall be focus and purposeful in making sure all the programs mentioned during my campaign are properly actualized. Our government is willing to extend a hand of fellowship to our comrades in the struggle who lost at the poll for a more united leadership.”
Also speaking, Imah Ayi Ekpeyong who was the sole administrator of the union, urged the new executive to try to bridge the gap between the LGA’s and aim at protecting the students at all course.
The new exco include, Effiom Godwin Michael- President, Aja Mba- Vice President, Frank Essien- General Secretary, Mfon Ikpeme- Asst. Sec. Gen., Nyok Okon- Director of Welfare, Iso Effiong- Financial Secretary, Akiba Asuquo- Director of Socials, Iko Uno- Director of Sports and Egari Onette- Director of information.
SOCRISS is a Union of students from the seven LGA’s of Cross River South Senatorial District which include Akampka, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Biase, Calabar Municipality, Calabar South and Odukpani.
