National Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Muazu has commended Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State for the developmental strides so far recorded by his administration.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for 200 housing unit of the Golf Estate, one of the offerings at the Summit Hills, Calabar, Mu’azu lauded the project as it was intended to add value to Tinapa Leisure Resort which was initiated by Duke.

He frowned at the trend where succeeding governors abandon projects put in place by their predecessors.

According to him, “Tinapa was not abandoned by Imoke, rather, he has added Summit Hills to it and continuity has moved the state further.”

He remarked that, “God has done something for Nigeria and the rest is for you and I to complete that work. I commend Cross River for keying into God’s work in the environment.”

Governor Imoke described Summit Hills as a new lifestyle neighborhood in Calabar that will change the landscape of the city.

He listed projects sited within Summit Hills to include the Calabar International Convention Centre (CICC), The Calabar Specialist Hospital, Golf Course, and a hotel, adding that the first phase of another estate developed by a private sector has reached an advanced stage. He assured that all the projects will be completed and commissioned by March next year.

The Managing Director, UACN Property Development Company (UPDC), Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran, said the estate was conceived as a necessary complement of the Summit Hills in tandem with the fundamental elements of a proper mixed use development which, when fully completed, will rank among top 20 mixed developments in the world.

Ogunniran disclosed that the estate which is located on 32.5 hectares is conceived as a fully serviced estate, and when completed, will comprise 200 housing units of various typologies including five bedroom detached duplexes, four bedroom bungalows, four bedroom detached duplexes, four bedroom bungalows, three bedroom bungalows and three bedroom flats.

Recreational facilities on the estate include community center, commercial Spa, Swimming pool, gymnasium, club house and children’s playgrounds, a sewage treatment plant are among the first class facilities to be provided at the estate.

Special Adviser, Governor’s Office, Mr. Nzan Ogbe, said the estate was conceptualized to give quality houses to middle and high income brackets within a friendly neighborhood.

Ogbe disclosed that the estate will be executed through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the state government providing the basic infrastructure, while UPDC will build the houses.
