It was a lively and memorable moment in Calabar on Thursday morning when the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu led an impromptu choir to render the traditional birthday song, “happy birthday to you” for Senator Liyel Imoke, the Cross River State Governor who turned 53 on July 10th.

Mu’Azu who was in the state to perform the foundation laying event of the Golf Estate an upscale residential quarters located at the Summit Hills in the outskirts of Calabar after making a speech to herald the laying of the foundation for the estate called on the dignitaries at the ceremony to join him upstage to sing the birthday song. “My voice is neither bass, treble or any of those but I have a family here especially the women who can help me do this job well and please can everyone join me lets sing a birthday song for this performing governor”.

In response all the dignitaries including Obioma Imoke, the governor’s wife, Olisa Metuh the PDP Publicity Secretary, Efiok Cobham, Imoke’s deputy, Hakeem Oguniran, MD UPDC, Professor Jerry Gana, Ntufam John Okon, PDP State Chairman for Cross River State chapter, Cross River Executive Council members and several other dignitaries joined him and the song was rendered while swaying side to side to the delight of the crowd that graced the event.

Mr. Imoke who sat down watched with admiration as the song was rendered with a smile on his face. Though he did not say anything but the expression on his face showed great respect and admiration for the PDP National Chairman whom he fondly calls the Game Changer.

To add more color to the event, Senator Imoke at the end of the ceremony went behind the steering and drove the PDP National Chairman whom he had earlier picked from the Margaret Ekpo International Airport back to the Cultural Centre where a lecture to mark the birthday which is the last Imoke will celebrate as governor was taking place.
