The Akamkpa Students Union has given kudos to CrossRiverWatch for its stride in investigating and exposing the extra judicial killing by some men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Zone 6 Division, Nigerian Police, Calabar Cross River State of Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement made available to CrossRiverWatch, it reads in part “Extra judicial killing is against the rule of law, unconstitutional, it is inhuman, it is barbaric and must be fought with all amount of vigor by any means necessary.

“The recent in the state, Cross River is one of many that has been going scot free, Derek a young promising accounting student of University of Calabar with bright future, the taxi driver who for no reason was innocently murdered in cold blood, the others who knows their crime?

“Children and youths are the leaders of tomorrow, who knows if Derek, the cab driver or any of those killed are the future president, governor or businessmen whose contribution could make Cross River State or Nigeria as a whole move to the promise land?

“It has become unusual today for media houses to reveal such terrible incident except by committed ones like CrossRiverWatch and of course it is a challenge to other media houses and a wakeup call for us all”.

The statement which was signed by the union’s President, Comrade Enyam Kelvin warned that when the case is taken to court “it shouldn’t die a natural death. They shouldn’t be granted bail and let the legal path fear nor favor anyone other than the innocent. Most of all they should be relieved of their duties publicly before taken to court”.
