All is now set for the second year anniversary lecture of CrossRiverWatch billed to hold by 9am on Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Transcorp Hotels in Calabar under the distinguished chairmanship of Senator Bassey Ewa Henshaw, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
The theme for this year’s lecture is: ‘Bakassi – Footprints of Democracy Without A Human Face’ while Professor Akin Oyebode, Head of Department of International Law and Jurisprudence has been confirmed as Guest Lecturer.
Governor Godwills Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State is special guest of honor while the Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel Imoke is Chief Host.
According to Mr. Charly Ofem, Deputy MD of CrossRiverWatch, “This year’s event is deliberately focused on Bakassi to sustain the discourse around the fate that has been foisted on them by the whims of international politics.
“We are concerned both as an editorial team, as Cross Riverians and as Nigerians about the fate of the Bakassi people and we believe that the least we can do is to continue to keep the discourse in the front burner that is exactly why we think that Bakassi was a very apt topic to look at this anniversary and we trust that Professor Oyebode, a renown professor of law, is eminently qualified to deal with the topic on Wednesday.”
