Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Benedict Ayade is set to commence training on how to fabricate low cost, pro-poor, energy conserving houses for his constituents.

The training scheduled to commence tomorrow, Monday August 4, 2014 has seen the arrival of two experts from Italy who are expected to train applicants who must be from the northern senatorial district of Cross River State.

A statement from the Senator’s office said: “This pro-poor program is aimed at training youths in the senatorial district on low cost housing construction using solar roof tiles to generate electricity for the housing scheme. This means these houses will have 24 hour electricity without connection to national electricity grid.”

The statement signed by Dr. Stephen Odey, SA to Senator Ayade disclosed that the training will be one month intensive training covering the aspects of solar electricity, carpentry, plumbing, tilling, bricklaying, electrical, basic designs and landscaping.

Adding that after graduating, beneficiaries will eventually be deployed for the mass social housing scheme in collaboration with development partners after due consultation with relevant stakeholders.

Interested applicants are advised to register at the senator’s constituency office along hospital road in Ogoja.
