In a bid to reduce the number of unemployed in the country and add value to the society, the University of Calabar Entrepreneurship Development Center graduated her second batch of students who had undergone training at the center.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Owan Enoh who was chairman of the occasion said “the idea of this event inspires me. Precisely because there is a difference between schooling and education because whatever we learn in school is to make us independent and self sustaining when we leave school. Schooling does not guarantee a job though”.
He concluded by congratulating the graduating students and said their future is secured.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. James Epoke while giving his remarks welcomed all to the event and said he was happy for the graduating students because unlike other graduations this one is unique as the graduants
don’t need to go about looking for jobs.
On his part, the Director of the UNICAL EDC, Prof Usang Usang said the center was established “so as to divert focus from searching endlessly for non existing jobs to creating jobs for themselves through enterprise development. It is to make students look beyond the one stretched white-collar job mentality and become more proactive by embracing true enterpreneurship”.
Other dignitaries present at the event include the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo Prof. Comfort Ekpo who was represented by the school DVC Academics, Prof. Okon Asang and Emeka Nnamani who is the Manager, CBN South South EDC amongst others.
