The Chairman of Abi Local Government Council Mrs. Edith Amadi has stated that the development of Abi women through skills acquisition and capacity building was a cardinal agenda of her administration.
Hon Amadi stated this recently in her office in Itigidi, Abi Council Headquarters when she received the National Council for Women Development (NCWD) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project monitoring report (volume 1) on the Activation of Women Development Centers to Improve Women Livelihood (Phase 11) which was presented by the NCWD team to the state.
She hinted that her administration already had plans to expand the scope and structure of Women Development Center in Abi so as to reposition it for more effective service delivery while ensuring that many more Abi women benefit from the center through adequate capacity building, skills acquisition or vocational training.
Hon. Amadi who submitted that the present council administration was poised to empower as many Abi women as possible also observed that poverty would be drastically reduced in the society if women were reasonably empowered and not remained perpetually dependent on others
.
The National Council for Women Development team which was led by Umar Idris Muhammed had earlier intimated the Abi Chairman of their mission which included a conduct of monitoring survey of the Abi Women Development Center with a view to activating it to optimum operational capacity through the National Council for Women Development (NCWD) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project on the Activation of Women Development Centers to Improve Women Livelihood Phase 11.
