The Calabar International Convention Center (CICC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alliance Venue and Facilities Management (AVFM), ahead of the venue opening in six months.
On Thursday 28 August, CICC project director Nzan Ogbe, signed the agreement with director of AVFM Mike Lord and fellow director Brian Jackson to herald the start of the new partnership.
“The signing of the MoU allows AVFM to commence management and operation of the CICC immediately, while the finishing touches are applied to a long-term agreement and the regulatory framework which will guarantee the CICC its commercial independence,” said Ogbe.
“We are delighted to have such an experienced team on board, with many years of large-scale facilities and event management.”
Also present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Finance, Takis Caiafas; managing director of Cross River State Tourism Bureau, Michael Williams; Edward Anam of the Bureau for Public Private Partnership; and SA Legal Services, Rosemary Onah.
Lord said: “With the opening of the CICC just six months away, we have just enough time to get everything in place. We are looking forward to working with local staff and suppliers especially, as we have a good track record of helping them to grow and develop.”
