Politicians in Nigeria have been called upon to redirect their priorities from self to a greater focus for the overall development of the country and the good of the people.
The first United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Center, UN-POLAC Award winner from Cross River State, and NNPC Stock Accounting Officer, Port Harcourt, (Chief) Ambassador Izani O. Ekpe, who made this call in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch in Calabar, said that Nigeria is a country with great potentials but was bugged down by the virus of self-seeking politicians among other problems.
Chief Izani who is the first Cross Riverian and third Nigerian to be so conferred with the coveted UN POLAC Award of Mayor of Peace on the 23rd of August, 2014 in Calabar disclosed that as the past President of the Lions Club, he has great passion for service to the poor and less-privileged in the society.
He explained that as part of this humanitarian work, he has provided boreholes for his home town Ebom in Abi and in Eneyo Akpabuyo, bought a boat to ease the transportation needs of his people in Abi, while plans are on to establish a bread factory and a water packaging/ bottling company in Ikot Eneyo, Akpabuyo to provide employment for the youths of the area.
Chief Izani used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government to do something urgently about the deplorable state of the Calabar- Akpabuyo Federal road which he equally described as an international road.
