Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ, has restated its commitment to the growth of the journalism profession in Cross River State and the development of the State through proactive and developmental reportage.

The members of the association who met on Wednesday evening in Calabar made the commitment while reviewing events in the state particularly the evolving political attitude in the state which is seen in the healthy electioneering and proactive interaction of aspirants with party stake holders and electorate, a development which has not been witnessed in the past.

The association also resolved to collaborate with the Cross River State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ to create a platform for one on one interaction with the aspirants with a view to providing each of them the opportunity to present their blueprint for the development of the state and avail the Press of information to objectively present to Cross Riverians and assist them to make informed decisions during the party primaries and the general election.

The interaction with the aspirants which will be in phases will start with governorship aspirants, then the Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly aspirants.

The association commended the political parties for the level of openness and level playing field given to the aspirants so far and called on the political parties to sustain the openness until the candidate who is the choice of the people emerges at the party primaries.
