Cross Riverians have been told to shine their eyes and beware of a dictator who has turned himself to an Emperor in the politics of the State.
Former gubernatorial candidate and Senator who represented Cross River State Central in the Senate Between 1999-2003,Senator Mathew Tawo Mbu Jr. stated this while addressing the people of Boki in Basua town hall on the need to vote for Senator Victor Ndoma Egba to return to the Senate in 2015.
Mbu described the governor as a dictator that pretends to be a democrat using government machineries to hound his opponents.
He called on the people of Boki to “Shine Your Eyes” and not to be deceived by the antics of government propaganda, saying Senator Victor Ndoma Egba has performed beyond expectation of the Boki people.
He said the replacement of the Senate Leader at this critical time when his wealth of experience and capacity as the engine room of the Senate is needed most will be resisted by the people as no imposition by “a governor who has not performed” will we be accepted by the people.
“The Governor has become an emperor who dictates for the people rather than allow the people to choose their political representatives.
“Despite the fact that he has performed woefully in all facets of governance as the governor, tell him he has no moral standing to choose our leader for us because we are in a democracy.
“The position the Senate Leader is holding today is equivalent to a field marshal in the Army, how can you replace a field marshal with an ordinary recruit, because the person he wants to foist on the people of the Central is an ordinary recruit. Boki people will you accept?
And a loud voice replied Nooooooo!
The event was part of the political consultation by the Senate Leader to his constituents where traditional rulers, youth groups, women and other political stakeholders were in attendance.
