The National Director General of Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON Dr. Joseph Odumodu has enjoined Cross Riverians and Nigerians at large to patronize and promote made in Nigeria goods.
He made the call in Calabar at a one day sensitization rally organized by the organization where he urged Nigerians to be condescending and uphold the locally made products through the mandatory conformity assessment program,
“particularly for cottage, small and medium enterprise”, he advised.
The rally with the theme “Standard Level Playing Field” was described by the DG who was represented by the director of food department, Mrs. Eshiet Margaret as a means of equipping and measuring of instruments, as well as compliance monitoring and standards enforcement”.
On his part, the South-South SON Coordinator, Engineer David Obi beckoned on Nigerian manufacturers to improve on the quality of their products to help change the bad image the public has in made in Nigeria goods.
The rally kicked off with a walk from Millennium Park through Calabar road into Nelson Mandela passing through Target road to Mary Slessor then stopping at the Cultural Center.
Similar rallies were held simultaneously in Abuja and Adamawa.
