Prince Goddy Jedy Agba, Cross River 2015 PDP governorship aspirant has informed CrossRiverWatch in an exclusive chat that he will finally be arriving Calabar on Thursday, November 6, 2014 after a protracted period of absence.
The former NNPC boss, while speaking to CrossRiverWatch in his Abuja home said he has fully recovered from an undisclosed illness which took him to a German Hospital, where he spent over two months and is now ready to commence his gubernatorial campaign.
Jedy Agba’s governorship ambition and his formidability has caused considerable anxiety among power brokers in the ruling PDP in the state and his illness and sudden disappearance caused a lot of tongue wagging with plenty of his opponents claiming the Obudu Prince had suffered paralysis and was out of the race.
But a very ebullient, Jedy Agba who spoke with CrossRiverWatch just after arriving from Sunday Mass in company of his wife, Beatrice, said: “Do I look like someone that has stroke or paralysis? It is a year of politics and so many things are usually bandied around by opponents to see how they can get an edge or leverage. That was exactly what happened in my absence.
“Illness is natural and there is no living thing that does not fall ill and mine was not an exception. After a very tedious and successful career in the civil service, ending with a hectic schedule in the management of NNPC, I think that my body needed a refreshing in preparation for the work at Peregrino House from next year and God in his infinite mercy did not want this to happen while we are just getting into office, God willing. God needed to relieve my body of all that stress and refresh me for the task in Calabar, I think that was what happened.
“I want to assure everyone that I will be arriving Calabar on Thursday for a reception by my supporters and well wishers who want to welcome me back home after a period of absence. It is interesting to note that my absence has even instigated more support for me from very unlikely quarters. I understand a reception will be held for me at a venue along the Highway in Calabar on Thursday and I am assuring my supporters that I will be in Calabar to formally commence my campaign activities.”
Information available from the Jedy Agba Campaign office in Calabar indicates that vehicles will be available for those wishing to travel from all the Local Government Areas in the state to attend the reception in Calabar.
CrossRiverWatch also gathered reliably that Jedy will depart Abuja on Thursday morning aboard a private jet and pick up a former governor of Cross River State in Lagos who will accompany him to Calabar for the reception. The former governor is said to have thrown his weight behind the governorship ambition of the Obudu Prince and will be making the support open on the day.
