Navy Secondary School Emerges Best In NECO ‎Examination In Cross River

The Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Akpabuyo, has emerged the overall best performing school in the 2014 National Examination Council, (NECO) in Cross River State.

The feat has already provided the two best students with scholarships and medals from Learn Africa Development Foundation to further their studies.

Attaining the status of best secondary school in Cross River State was not an easy task to come by due to the competition and strive for excellence among schools to get Learn Africa foundation Development Annual Award.

The school had emerged the second overall best in both NECO and WAEC in 2012 and 2013 Senior Secondary School Examinations respectively.

Speaking during the award of excellence to the school and best students by Learn Africa Foundation in Calabar, the Commandant of the school, Navy Commander Eleazu Uriri said: “We give thanks to God Almighty, the Chief Of Naval Staff, the Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Obiora Medani, the Teachers, the students and indeed the Parents who believe in the knowledge we impact on these students.

“Even though we are very happy that we (Navy Secondary School) emerged the overall best having been second best twice, the award is a challenge to continue to provide academic excellence to the students of the school.

“Attaining the status of Best Secondary School in Cross River State was not an easy task to come by due to competition and striving for excellence among schools to get the Learn Africa Foundation Development Annual Award.”

He thanked the teachers, students and their parents for keying into the vision of the school which is anchored solely on discipline, excellence and knowledge for development.

‎The Team Leader of Learn Africa Foundation, Mr. Ben Warri ‎said Navy Secondary School and its Students emerged the Best and Second Best Candidates at the June/July 2014 NECO Senior Secondary School Examination in Cross River State.

Warri said the award and scholarships given to the school and students was instituted in conjunction with NECO to further recognize the importance of excellence in education to national development.

Miss Uduakabasi Emmanuel, a law‎ student in University of Ibadan and Master Oguno Ketuojo Clifford, a Nigerian Defence Academy applicant, received the best overall students award.

The Award of Excellence came few months after the school was recognized as the second best in Cross River State by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).
